APPLIES TO:
Windows 95a, 95b, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME
SYMPTOM:
Tickets do not begin printing for 10 to 15 seconds after pressing the
spacebar to commit to a sale.
SOLUTION:
Windows operating system uses a
built in print spooler to allow printing items in the background
while other operations are possible. With an MS-DOS application such
as ours, you can disable the print spooling so that the print jobs
are started immediately.
STEP 1:
There must be at least one
printer defined and set as the default printer in the Windows Control
Panel. If no printer exists, simply install the "Generic/Text
Only" printer driver and then set the properties as shown in the
following steps, otherwise change the settings for the default
printer by right-clicking the icon for the printer then selecting
"Properties." (Note: it doesn't matter that the printer set
as your computer's default printer isn't the ticketing printer. The
changes you set will apply to your system as a whole.)
STEP 2:
Select the "Details"
tab under the default printer's properties. Press the button marked
"Port Settings."
STEP 3:
Uncheck the top checkbox which
reads: "Spool MS-DOS Print Jobs". Press "Apply"
and "OK" and close the Windows control panel.
Your tickets should begin printing instantly the next time your ticketing terminal is re-started.
